Work Burnout

In the world that we live in today, there are many areas where we can start to feel burnt out. We begin to feel that we are just exhausted and we do not want to do anything. For job burnout specifically, it is a state of physical or emotional exhaustion that involves a sense of reduced accomplishment and loss of personal identity.

When we have burnout especially at work, it carries into other areas of our lives. We tend to not take care of our health whether that is physically or emotionally. We simply do not have the energy to do so. Physically, we might have unexplained headaches, stomach problems, or trouble sleeping. Emotionally, there is a lack of concentration, exhaustion, or increased irritability.

In order to eliminate burnout at work, we can take action when we start to feel that we are exhausted all the time and have no energy or desire to go to work.

  • Seek support

Seeking support plays a huge part in eliminating burnout. When we seek support from family members, friends, and coworkers, we are holding ourselves accountable to seek help for how we are feeling. When we hold ourselves accountable, we can make improvements in our lives and have help with eliminating burnout.

  • Get exercise

This might be a hard one for many individuals who do not have access to a gym but you do not always need a gym. Walking around your neighborhood or even your house can allow you to have some sort of stress relief. Working out has been proven to reduce stress and take your mind off of things like work.

  • Have a social life

Having a social life outside of work seems like it would not help with work burnout but it does. When you have something to do that is not related to work, it will lessen the burnout that you are feeling at work. If your life is all about work and you have nothing else that will stimulate your brain, you will burnout quickly. Finding a hobby can be the first step in creating this social life outside of work.
