A Day in the Life of an Intern at Olive Branch

Currently, I am an undergraduate intern here at Olive Branch Counseling Associates. Throughout this blog, I am going to walk you through what a day in my life looks like when I am at the office. When I am at the office, I am able to see the aspects of what a private practice counseling center looks like and determine if that would be the setting I would want to work in for the future.

I am at Olive Branch on Wednesdays completing my internship hours for my undergraduate degree in Psychology. Throughout the entire hour that I am in supervision, I learn so many things that I would not have been able to from a book or a course, especially as an undergraduate student. Supervision is an amazing way to learn about how to interact with a client, how to learn what you want in a future supervisor, and a way to talk things out when you need someone else’s opinion on how to go about a situation.

Moving into the afternoons, it has been such a blessing to be at Olive Branch in the afternoons on Wednesdays. When I am here, I feel like I am learning so much from the counselors as they are interacting with their clients and interacting with me. As the counselors are speaking to me in between sessions, I am able to learn so many new things that I had not known before, it is almost like mini supervisions. The counselors here have taught me so much and have been so kind to me. They truly have made my experience at Olive Branch amazing and I am not even finished yet! Not only do I get to interact with the counselors I get to interact with the clients whether that is saying hello when they walk in or having a conversation with them while I take a payment.
