Everyone is on a mental health journey, just at different stages. Some people may be struggling with their mental health right now and others may be in a state of mental wellness. No matter the case, there are ways to support someone on their journey. Especially if they may be struggling a little bit right now. One way you can help is to offer a nonjudgmental listening ear. You may be the outlet that they need. Another way is to validate their feelings as you listen to them. As you have a conversation with them make sure to tell them that you care for them and are there to help, if needed. And if after you listen to them you think professional help can be useful to them, politely encourage them.
If you or someone you know may be struggling with mental health, and would like to speak to a professional counselor about it, please feel free to contact Olive Branch Counselling Associates, Inc. at 708-633-8000. We are located at 6819 – 167th street in Tinley Park, Illinois 60477. We provide in person and telehealth services, and would be happy to hear from you and set up an appointment!
