Self-Care

How often do you find yourself putting yourself last on your list of things to do?  Kids, laundry, carpools, cooking, cleaning, working, it never ends.  Do you hear a voice in your head telling you to just run away?  Often times, when we put everything before us, nonverbally we tell our environment that we are not a priority.  This leads others to put us last, we’ve given them permission to do so by how they witness us treat ourselves.  This will lead one to feel unappreciated and taken for granted.  If this is an accurate description of the story of your life, then now is the time to make a change.  The change does not have to be drastic where all responsibilities are thrown into the wind.  Maybe you inch yourself up one notch on your list of priorities.  There are 1,440 minutes in a day.  That means that there are 10,080 minutes in a week.  You deserve at least 30 minutes out of all of them!  Take a yoga class, join a book club, take daily walks, meditate, journal, or watch your favorite show.  It’s your time, your choice.  I encourage you to reflect on your life.  How well are you taking care of all that you manage in your life if you don’t take care of yourself?
